Pinal County Department of Public Works
Florence, Arizona

This 14,000 square-foot building is the office for a team of social workers. Most work stations are contained in a large volume space that is flooded with natural light via north windows, a north facing clerestory, and shaded south windows. The natural day lighting scheme is an environmentally sensitive way to introduce indirect sunlight into the building while minimizing solar heat gain from direct sunlight. Wood roof framing, concrete masonry, and metal roofing were selected for durability and recycling potential. A north yard with an 8-foot-high wall provides security for the staff during breaks and screens the view of the state penitentiary to the north.

Jorge listened to what we wanted, and delivered a building that was perfect for our needs. Working with Jorge was a winning experience. I recommend him highly.”
