Gateway Community College
Phoenix, Arizona
This new facility consists of a chiller plant, shop space, maintenance staff office/conferencing space, and a maintenance yard that also contains cooling towers associated with the chiller plant. The new chiller plant supplies chilled water by a campus-wide, underground distribution system. Additional chiller space is provided for future growth. The architect coordinated with other architects who were in the process of designing buildings that would be adjacent to this project, to assure aesthetical consistency and compatibility in the development of the campus.

As an engineering consultant, I have worked with Jorge Abril in numerous projects since the early 1990’s. In the Gateway Mechanical Plant & Maintenance Facility project he was my architectural consultant. In either capacity, Jorge’s approach is one of listening, understanding, and making the most of every situation. I have found him to be professional, “down-to-earth”, fair, and accommodating. My experience working with Jorge has been very positive. I enjoy working with him."
