Thunderbird School of Global Management
Glendale, Arizona

An executive hotel, an adjacent executive education lecture hall building and a remote central chiller plant building were included in this project. The hotel includes sixty-four rooms, recreational space, and twelve “break-out” conference rooms. A sunken amphitheater was also constructed between both buildings. The lecture hall building, consisting of two tiered lecture halls, is situated around an outdoor plaza that has a centrally located passive cooling tower. The HVAC systems for both buildings are supported by a new central chiller plant which supplies chilled water to the north campus by an underground, two-pipe distribution system. This approach offers the best long-term energy efficiency and life cycle cost.

I worked with Jorge and Martin for many years involving many projects on the campus of Thunderbird involving remodel and new construction. This was a long-term relationship during the 1990’s, where our trust in their work developed from success on small projects and continued through their success on completion of large projects. Over these years they consistently listened and understood our goals and needs. They continually provided well balanced designs that exceeded our expectations."
